We at the RiverHaus seek to create a unique creative space where we can gather and enjoy friends and family. The RiverHaus is meant to be a shared retreat and not a hotel. We ask for help with the cooking, dishes, and chores, along with help cleaning at the end of the weekend.
There is a Google spreadsheet with event weekend plans and menus, including food and sleeping assignments. Click on the event tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet to see the details for your event. The button for MENU & BUNK is at the top of the page.
Most weekends, we will plan an excursion to get out of the house and have an adventure. Check out the EXCURSIONS tab for possible adventures close to the RiverHaus.
Guests, please bring your drinks and snacks for the weekend. The RiverHaus pantry always stocks tea, coffee, hot cocoa, hot cider, and bottled water to share. Personal pillows, beach blankets, camp chairs, and bug spray are also helpful.
We have two full bathrooms, including a tub/shower on a septic system. Water use matters during the weekend when we have a full house of guests. We take shorter showers and try to reuse towels to cut down on the washing.
The RiverHaus has fiber broadband internet available called "RIVERHAUS". The WiFi password is posted on the kitchen pinboard when you arrive.
We enjoy having families at the RiverHaus and want to make it as easy as possible for parents. The under-the-sink cabinets have child locks, and the outlets can have plug guards if requested.
We expect all parents to watch their kids, especially around the water. The river does have a current. We have some life preservers of various child sizes available, but please check to see what is available.
Families are always welcome to bring a "plus one" friend for their kids to have someone to explore, play, and enjoy their time at the Riverhaus. Parents are responsible for their children and guests.
Our smoking lounge, a separate small garage, is off-limits to children for everyone's comfort. We keep adult shenanigans separate from our guests' families. We partake in everything legal in MN out in the lounge
For our guests 18-20, we will look to your parents to set boundaries so everyone is comfortable.
The RiverHaus stocks a full first aid kit, medicine cabinet, and COVID tests in the main bathroom cabinet for the basics. Our nearest emergency room is either North in Sandstone (30 min) or South in Cambridge (30 min).
In case of a tornado, a steep set of stairs in the mermaid bedroom leads down to a 10' x 12' cellar to wait out the storm. There's a weather radio, flashlight, and other provisions in the basement for an emergency.
