THINGS TO DO

A few IDEAS FOR RiverHaus ADVENTURES, GAMES, & EVENTS

The RiverHaus always has a few ships rolling so find yours and hop on! Below is the approved list of things to do from Drew our Activities Director for your visit. Check out BRIDGE 2025 to see more information on your event.

There are several quiet spaces at the RiverHaus where you can step out and take a break, lay in a hammock, sit by a fire, or curl up with a good book.

KAYAKING

There are (6) kayaks and we can borrow up to (5) more from the neighbors. We put in right off the RiverHaus dock and take a 1 1/2 to 3-hour float down the Snake River depending on the time of year. The Snake River ranges from 2 - 15 feet deep but is mostly sandy and shallow. We have a trailer and a five-minute drive to pick up the kayaks at the journey's end. Check out the HARBOR tab for more info including a river map and wildlife.

BOATING:

Our dock is home to a 12-foot aluminum fishing boat with a large trolling motor for up to three. We also have a 19-foot pontoon boat we can cruise up and down the Snake River to Cross Lake, Pokegama Lake, or dock in Pine City. Check out the HARBOR tab for more info.

BOARD & CARD GAMES:

We have a closet full of games and cards. We enjoy all types of games with over 150 games to choose from. Check out the SALOON tab for more info.

BEAN BAGS:

We have a flat yard by the dock where we set up bean bags. Let us know and we can measure out and set up the boards to throw a round for a little challenge in the summer.

HAMMOCKS:

We have (2) two-person hammocks with plans to add a third under the shade of the 40-ft red maple trees.

SWIMMING:

Off the end of our dock is a sandy bottom and about 5' of water in the summertime. There is a slow current if you pick up your feet you float downstream but can easily stand up. The water is clear in June but slows down and has some green in August. We can also take the pontoon to the sand beach in Pine City or the middle of Pokegama Lake where you can dive in at 45' deep.

FISHING:

You can buy an MN 1-day fishing license online if you decide last minute to throw in a line. There are fishing poles, tackle, and nets at the RiverHaus. There is a minnow bucket and the bait shop is 5 minutes away. You can fish off the dock or take the 3-person fishing boat with a trolling motor. Check out the HARBOR tab for more info including lake maps and types of fish.

CAMPFIRES & STARS:

The RiverHaus has a large fire pit and an acre of trees that provide constant firewood to burn. The stars at night are amazing being just outside the night lights of the Twin Cities. We even catch the Northern Lights sometimes. We have a small telescope to check out the big astronomical events.

CINEMA & MOVIES:

We have a large TV, surround sound, and three couches to enjoy Disney, Hulu, Prime, and Netflix. We can also catch the latest releases at the Cambridge Cinema. Check out the SALOON tab for more info.

LIBRARY:

We have a few Sci-Fy/Fantasy collections on our shelves, and books to share and take if something catches your interest. There are a few cozy well-lit chairs to curl up in and lose yourself in a book.  Check out the SALOON tab for more info.

WALKS:

You can walk the dirt roads right by the RiverHaus to stretch your legs or there are about 3 miles of free state park trails at the Snake River Fur Trading post five minutes away. One of the River Haus neighbors, Paul, has a small orchard to explore right on our road and there is also state land at the end of the road with trails. Check out the EXCURSIONS tab for more info on the fur post.

SNOWSHOEING:

There are 5-6 pairs of snowshoes in various sizes to go and explore across the river for an adventure. There are also winter trails at the Snake River Fur Trading Post and Millon Dollar Bridge. Check out the EXCURSIONS tab for more info.
